This week students in Prep-Year 10 attended our College assembly in the Savio Centre. Our Kinders are still learning about gatherings and will be ready for a taste of the larger community assemblies later in the year.
The assembly was a wonderful opportunity for us to be together in community and for our student leaders to convey strong positive message about learning to our student body. Our College Captains and Vice Captains were impressive and led the assembly with confidence and style.
A showcase of student learning
The assembly showcased a range of student pursuits both inside and outside of the College.
Highlights included a performance by our Year 8 Elective Dance students who are to be commended on their focus, discipline and skill, which combined together for a most engaging and very convincing performance.
Year 10 Science students, Soma Kondo and Oscar Elliot demonstrated learnings with their group, from their recent experience in the University of Tasmania's Science & Engineering Challenge. We were all fascinated by their mock bionic hand, made of drinking straws!
Year 8 student, Felicity Ploughman inspired us all with a great speech on getting involved in Rostrum Voice of Youth and what she had learned from the experience.
The excellent singing of the Prep-Year 6 students of the Hymn to Don Bosco was appreciated and enjoyed by all.
Gathering as a full community of learners is an important part of being an authentic K-10 College and we look forward each term to this special event.
