Last Friday, our 2019 Leaders Induction Ceremony took place, where Year 9 students step up as the new 2019 leaders.
Parents and carers of the excited leaders watched proudly in the Savio Centre, as each worthy leader was called to the stage to receive their badge and tie. It was through this process where the transfer of leadership occurred, and the new, motivated and determined leaders started getting ready for their 2019 roles.
Following this special event, the new leaders were feeling positive and ready to prepare for 2019 and with the first leaders function, they were able to put this energy into a plan of action.
New College leaders met and participated in multiple 30-minute workshops, gaining further knowledge in aspects of leadership. Through the knowledge and experience of Ms Gilligan, Mr Casni, Mr Pritchard, Miss Brownrigg and Mr Davey, we were able to learn many things, such as the power of having a focus for the year, planning ahead and the positive effect of organisation, awesome tips for public speaking and working as a team, coming up with ideas, listening to one another and supporting each other.
During the evening we got the chance to join with our individual leadership teams, discussing the possible ways to improve our area, possible focus ideas and plans for the future. Every individual group came up with some awesome ideas, and we can’t wait to share them with the Dominic College community next year!
Following these workshops, the leaders and invited staff attended Mass led by Fr Damien in our Chapel. The Mass focused on dignity, being proud of our achievements, but always giving to others, loving and supporting others.
This important and rewarding evening was finished by a dinner shared with each other. It was a beautiful meal, shared with love and new friendships.
This day was so special for all, enabling the new leaders of 2019 to feel fresh, excited and ‘ready to rock’ for 2019. We can’t wait to represent the Dominic College community next year. Let’s make the year an awesome one!
