Dominic College is proud to announce that we will be having a Year 7-10 Mental Health Week from Monday 4 to Thursday 7 June. We will focus on quite a few topics around Mental Health including:
We will bring in some very special guest speakers to address particular year levels.
#notevenonce will be our Keynote Speaker – addressing students regarding the risks of Alcohol and Drugs.
The Year 10s will have a session about Resilience with Tasmania’s very own Olympic boxer, Luke Jackson. They will also have a session on Nutrition.
Speak Up Stay ChatTy is going to play a major role in our Mental Health Week, as they will be holding sessions for the Year 9 students.
Fresh Faced Friday, a Tasmanian Body Image Campaign will be a part of our Mental Health week as well. Their work will be the basis of our Year 8 Program, which will be run by both the student leaders and staff.
The Little Help Project will be working with our Year 7 students on Empowerment and Resilience.
We will be hosting Yoga and Self Defence Sessions during lunch. We are also hoping to organise some breakfasts for students, lunchtime activities including concerts and generally have a week of positivity and fun.
We hope that this is just the start to talking about Mental Health, and for students to not be afraid to speak up. We just want students to remember that each of us is always here for each other, no matter what. We hope that having Mental Health Week will give others the courage to speak up and talk about mental health.
We want the week to be an annual campaign driven by the College Captains, along with our Pastoral Care staff for years to come.
