Ash Wednesday is the first of 40 days of Lent, mirroring the 40 days Jesus spent in the desert. It is a time of prayer, sacrifice and good works. This year our Opening College Mass and Ash Wednesday coincided.
K-6 teachers and all 7-10 pastoral teachers received an 'ashing' and an ash bowl. In a gentle and solemn ritual they dipped their thumb into the ashes and marked a cross on their student's forehead, with the words, "Be faithful to the Gospel."
Thank you students, families, staff and our Salesian community for joining together for this liturgy and Mass.

Project Compassion
Ash Wednesday also marks the beginning of the annual Caritas Australia Project Compassion appeal. This year's Project Compassion stories focus on the ways in which Caritas Australia is working around the world to empower vulnerable people to establish sustainable food sources and develop income streams for life.
Every K-6 class and every 7-10 pastoral group will have a Project Compassion donation box. Please participate in the good works of Lent by making a donation. Your donations to Project Compassion allow Caritas Australia, the Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, to work towards a more just and fair world, where the basic human right for food is met and sustained.
