An excellent group of thirty-somethings enjoyed an exuberant 20-years reunion of the Class of 2001 on Saturday 20 November 2021.
Many thanks to organisers Nat Downton and Aaron Wojcik, who were responsible for planning the afternoon and who also set up the after-party in town.
Thanks also to Dominic College Principal, Ms Beth Gilligan, and Mr Tony Webb who welcomed students and assisted with the afternoon. After some catching up and reminiscing, Ms Gilligan led the group on an abbreviated tour of some of the newer facilities, such as the Oratory Space, which was built in the shell of their old Savio Centre (gym and hall) along with the Br Peter Dezani Design Centre. Fra Angelico was also a new area for these students, built in the expanded ground floor of the old Middle School Electives Block. A couple of our guests were current parents of students in the K-6 classes and so had some familiarity with our K-10 facilities.
The old scholars really became excited once they passed the canteen and courts and began to recall their haunts. Scott Beattie was particularly colourful in his memories of helping Mr Woolford in the early mornings.
Year 10 2001 experienced the transition between the old groups of homerooms based on years and colours (7 Red etc) to pastoral home rooms based on the Houses as we now know them. So they were quite interested in how the Guzman and Savio Hubs, for example, were now set up with great facilities.
The 2001 Class enjoyed the afternoon refreshments (maybe a little too much...) and headed off for further celebrations in good spirits!
