The Southern Tasmanian Dance Eisteddfod is over for another year.
In the last newsletter of term 2, Jess Duggan, Year 10 Bosco House Creative Arts Captain, said students were excited to have the opportunity to perform and showcase their hard work at the Derwent Entertainment Centre before a public audience.
“Our choreographer is the extremely talented Ms Jenina Evans, of Jenina’s Dance World, who teaches dance here at Dominic. She is the best teacher ever.”
Competing against College level students, the Dominic College Year 8 Dance Troupe were pleased with their highly commended performance by the adjudicator. The students will perform their routine again, as well as offering other pieces, in the Dominic College Creative Arts Festival in September, to be held over a week in the Salamanca Arts Precinct.
In late news - on the final night, Year 5 student Zoelle Lin, not only won her Jazz Solo competition but received a "call back" from the adjudicator, who loved her performance. Zoelle performed her routine again in front of the full final night audience. Congratulations Zoelle!
It was great to see so many people out at the DEC supporting their friends and families.
Director of Creative Arts, Mr Mike O’Brien, has also been excited by the enormous enthusiasm created by the growth of dance at Dominic.
“We now have a full extra-curricular class of Year 5 and 6 students who have dance at lunchtimes on Fridays – and there’s a wait list. I can only see Dance getting stronger.”
