DOSA Football concluded its season functions with the annual Best & Fairest Dinner last Wednesday evening at the Hobart Yacht Club. A large number of players, their WAGs, families and supporters listened to the end of season news, reflected on an excellent season, tempered by defeat in the finals, and celebrated the individual awards presented to the players.
Highlights of the awards presented included:
Wayne Olding Trophy for the senior leading goal kicker - Michael Fisher
The senior coach’s trophy, The BJ Maxwell Trophy - Scott Beattie
Bill Caplice Memorial Trophy for outstanding achievement - Luke Golding, Mathew McCallum, Timothy Golding
Presidents Trophy - Patrick Carroll
Dooley Family Trophy Reserves Best & Fairest - Dean Wall
Br Peter Dezani Senior Best and Fairest - Michael Fisher
Old scholar and seniors coach and player, Justin Veitch, said he was proud of the direction the club was taking, and that the hard work and commitment of the whole team would stand them in good stead for their long term future success. One can look back on the ‘what ifs’ but it was important to acknowledge the past and embrace the future.
An enjoyable dinner and exciting best & fairest count was followed by music and dancing.
Preseason training at Dominic College will begin towards the end of Term 4 for the 2017 season.
