On Wednesday 11 April, we blessed and opened our new Creative Arts facilities - Fra Angelico - and also took the opportunity to bless The Oratory Space.
It was wonderful to have gathered together, with our Salesian Provincial, Fr Will Matthews SDB, our Vice Provincial and Chair of our College Council, Fr Bernie Graham SDB and our Rector Fr Lawrie Moate SDB along with the Hon Senator Eric Abetz, to bless and open these excellent spaces.
Creativity needed now and into the future
The World Economic Forum earlier this year identified the 10 Top skills needed by today’s work force and the workforce of the future. The top three skills needed today and anticipated in the next five years are complex problem solving, critical thinking and creativity. These are all central skills that our new facilities have been designed to evoke, stimulate, develop and depth in our students. Schools that intentionally develop their students’ creativity are truly authentic 21st century schools.
We are fortunate that Fra Angelico and The Oratory Space are outstanding facilities for our students now and into the future. They have been built to allow students to learn in new and more integrated ways and above all to think and create in original ways. A special thank you to our senior band, our combined Year 3/4 and 5/6 choirs and singers, Sarah and Ella Fitzpatrick, for the great entertainment prepared for the occasion.
This has been a significant development in the life of Dominic College and we give thanks for the providence of God.
