Our special guest for International Mens Day breakfast this year is old scholar and dancemaster, Andrew Palmer, Class of 1995.
Many will know of Andrew's recent work with our K-2 students in the successful Dance, Baby, Dance week, culminating in an entertaining concert in our Savio Centre.
Now, in November, Andrew will return to talk to us about his life, and career, as the men and boys of Dominic College come together to affirm the important role of men in our lives, raise awareness of issues of masculinity and behaviour and to raise funds for scholarships for boys education undertaken at the Don Bosco Technical School in Samoa.
International Mens Day Breakfast: Thursday 10 November 7.15am-8.30am in the Savio Centre.
Please note the event is being held in advance of the actual International Men's Day (19 November) due to clashes with other events at the College.
Tickets for breakfast at $10 each are available on line only from: Tickets for Mens Day Breakfast or see Frances in the Business Office.
Andrew Palmer came to Dominic College in Year 7 in 1992 from Rosetta Primary School. His Dad, Kevin, had several hairdressing salons around Hobart, including one at Glenorchy. Andrew started ballroom dancing when he was 11, at Margaret Cleary's School of Ballroom Dancing in Kensington Street, Glenorchy.
Andrew had inspirational teachers at his dance school, and was encouraged by his teachers at Dominic College, too, especially Fr Berrnie Graham SDB. His older brother, David, was at Dominic also, and looked after him. Andrew moved to Melbourne at the age of 15 at the end of Year 10 to seriously focus on dancing. Melbourne was where he could get the best tutoring.
Andrew has toured the world with dance, competed very successfully professionally, and had amazine experiences with Dancing With The Stars. Now he owns his own studio and coaches some of Australia best young talent. You'll enjoy his story at our breakfast. Please join us!
