The 2019 International Men's Day Breakfast was a huge success this year, attracting around 150 attendees, to acknowledge the men in our lives and to hear our special guest speaker, Liam Jones.
Liam, an Old Scholar from the Class of 2007, is best known for his successful AFL career playing for North Melbourne and more recently for the Carlton Football Club.
In his presentation, Liam described his childhood, the challenges he and his family had faced and the choices he had made. He was particularly appreciative of his mother who had worked long hours to support the family, and who had instilled in him the determination to overcome any challenges with hard work. He recalled his time at Dominic College fondly, noting that at the time his focus was more on football than academic pursuits. Liam shared his story openly and inspired the audience with his genuine and warm approach.
This breakfast is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the important role that men; fathers, grandfathers, uncles and sons, play in our lives and to stop and think about the many things they do everyday to show their love for us.
During the breakfast there were also presentations from current parents and students, several Old Scholars, as well as an original song performance from three of our current students.
Thank you to the many people who supported this event and those that worked to make it a success.
