Media Arts students finalised their short film entries to the MyState Film Festival. This was a natural progression from their One Minute Film assignment completed in Term 2 and provided the opportunity to expand and extend their filmmaking skills and understanding.
Being a competition in the public arena it carried with it the added responsibility of adhering to a theme, acknowledging and conforming to copyright and legal requirements. The theme of this year’s competition was ‘Glass’ and students chose many different ways to respond to this.
The finished films are available for viewing on the MyState Film Festival website in the High School category and they include, ‘A Stuttering Monologue’; ‘I Am Somebody, Who Are You’; ‘Endurance’; ‘Unpredictable’ and ‘Live Now’.
You can vote for the Dominic College film entries in the ‘People’s Choice’ voting online and you are keenly encouraged to do so.
There is also the wonderful opportunity for the students to see their films, if selected for the finals, screened in front of a live audience and to see other student entries.
This screening will take place at the Theatre Royal in Hobart on 7 December. Congratulations to all participating Media Arts students.
