More than 25 years of service

Congratulations to Mrs Rosemary Street (nee Fielding) who received her 25 years of service award from Catholic Education this week. But this is only the tip of the iceberg for her involvement!

Rosemary enrolled at St John’s Primary School at the age of 4, when it was run by the Dominican Sisters.In 1966 she went on to Holy Name, graduating in 1970.

Rosemary is the only girl in a family of five, two brothers older and two younger. Many of Rosemary’s brothers’ children also went to Dominic College, her niece Jeanette Fielding being a member of the Dominic Hall of Achievement, as is Jeanette’s father Robert Fielding.

After leaving school Rosemary worked in a range of office positions, first for Frank Hammonds, customs, shipping and transport then as receptionist for a firm of barristers and solicitors. She also had the opportunity to travel overseas.

Rosemary was married to Paul Street in the old Dominic College Chapel, the Savio Chapel, by Fr Frank Freeman SDB, in 1979. At the time she was secretary to the Director of Catholic Education, but was only in the job for a year until she left to become a full time mother. She stayed at home with her children and did night fill work at Coles.

Her four children all went to Dominic College and Rosemary was a dedicated volunteer as Mother’s Help in Dominic Primary School at Bowden Street, especially in the Office and Library.

She was employed as part-time receptionist there in December 1992, an ongoing position. At that time her oldest son Peter was finishing Year 6, Rachel was in Year 5, Nathan in Year 3 and Melanie in Year 1.

Rosemary has continued in this position, the role description changing in 2011 to K-10 Student Services. She now works alternate terms in K-6 and 7-10 and already has 11 grandchildren.

We are privileged to have members of our community, such as Rosemary, who have such important links to the past and the history of our College and continue providing wonderful service.
