This week the Creative Arts Faculty hosted three consecutive nights of music soirees in The Oratory Space.
These performances featured all students at Dominic College who are enrolled in private instrumental and vocal lessons as well as a number of students from our new Year 5 and 6 Instrumental Band Program, and 7-10 woodwind ensembles.
We had students performing from Prep all the way up to Year 10, with a number of first-time soiree performers and some veterans of the stage.
On Tuesday our guitar and piano students performed a variety of music from interpretations of Hot Cross Buns, jazz, pop, to original compositions. As well as solo and duet performances, we also heard ukulele, bass guitar, vocals, and an impressive guitar ensemble.
Wednesday night saw our brass, woodwind and drum students showcasing their skills. There were a number of first time beginner students from our 5/6 Instrumental Band Program performing solos, duets and trios as well as students who receive private instruction on their instrument. Our drummers kept everyone awake with impressive grooves and drum fills including Summer of 69 and some Up Town Funk. Our senior flute and clarinet ensembles were also featured.
Finally, on Thursday night our vocal students had an opportunity to perform as well as including an item from the 7-10 Musical Theatre Class. There was an impressive variety of music with songs from classical, pop and Broadway.
Well done to all of our very talented young musicians and appreciation goes to all of our music tutors - Brett Budgeon, John Keenan, Mark Schmalfus, Jeremy Sibson, Hans Kooji and Maddy Dyer.
There are ome hotos from the first evening on our gallery: Music Soirees.
