Many people may remember the amazing taiko performance by some of our Year 8, 9 and 10 Japanese elective students at the Asian Festival assembly last year. This breathtaking performance was the catalyst for our dedicated Parents & Friends to decide to support the College to purchase our own set of taiko drums!
The first of the drums have arrived (3 miyadaiko and 2 shimedaiko), and the set will be added to later in the year once the drums are made in Japan. The drums were used for the first time on Wednesday afternoon in a mini home-time performance outside the LOTE Room, played by Year 9 students Doyle Browning and Daniel Nguyen and supported by teachers Susie Allan and Belinda Kumashiro.
We are very excited to be able to offer the experience of playing the taiko to a wide range of students across the college over the coming weeks, months and years. We are confident that it will be an excellent addition to the many activities and experiences available at Dominic College. 本当にありがとうございます!(hontou ni arigatou gozaimasu!) Many many thanks to our wonderful P&F!
