Old Scholars football

Dominic Old Scholars Association (DOSA) Football Club reserves team had been minor premiers this year, and met Richmond in the Grand Final on Saturday 23 September.

But just three points was the margin that put DOSA Reserves season to a disappointing end.

A hard fought battle from both sides was the nature of the contest all game and neither team ever looked like giving up.

DOSA played well in the first quarter, controlling play and making multiple inside 50 entries. Somehow Richmond hung on and managed a couple of straight goals.

With the weather closing in, DOSA’s inaccuracy in front of goals was costly, with Richmond rebounding and keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Richmond had the best of the game for the first three quarters, but the Roosters didn’t let them slip away beyond reach. The Blues lead by 16 at 3 quarter time. DOSA was going to have to kick 3 goals more than Richmond in the last quarter.

This looked highly unlikely as DOSA only had 2 goals so far. A low scoring battle came to an end as DOSA finally found their range kicking four goals, but it wasn’t enough to bridge the gap. DOSA’s inaccuracy was reflected in the final scores - Richmond 8.2 50 to DOSA 6.11 47.

Congratulations to Richmond for winning both the Reserves and the Seniors, and unlucky to the DOSA boys, I’m sure you’ll be back even better next season!

It’s been a good season, thanks to everyone who helped out in and around the DOSA games and the footy club! Thanks also the supproters and families.

Congratulations to the many Dominic College old scholars who were such a great part of the club again this year.

See you next season. Go Roosters!
