We had a fantastic finish to Term 2 with our PJ Day and have been working hard over the last few weeks to prepare for a very busy Term 3.
Thank you to all families, teachers and students who supported our PJ Day on the last day of Term 2 - all students and staff looked warm and comfy and the hot chocolates sold by Mini Vinnies were a winner in the miserable weather.
Overall the P&F raised $582 and Mini Vinnies raised $469 which is a fantastic result.
Another thank you goes out to all P&F members and volunteers who helped at the Science Fair BBQ last week.
We had a few challenges with the ordering system and the weather but we managed to serve up over 400 sausages to some very hungry students.
It was a fantastic afternoon and we were happy to play our small part in the success of the event.
Upcoming events
Our annual Fathers Day Stall will be held on Wednesday 29 August from 9am-1.30pm in the Little Theatre. We have an amazing range of excellent quality gifts ready for purchase and at $5 they are great value for money.
This year’s range includes coffee and travel mugs, assorted frames, tool kits, desktop games, massagers, caps and beanies, pin art and much more. Students are welcome to purchase more than one item on the day.
On Wednesday 19 September, Dominic will host the Denison and Franklin Football and Netball afternoon.
The P&F will support this day by providing a BBQ for all players in this event but we are also planning on running a BBQ after school as well. We are looking for volunteers to help out between 2-3.30pm and also from 4-5.30pm and we will be located near the Football Oval. If you can spare some time to help support the day, then please let us know via our email parentsandfriends@dominic.tas.edu.au or texting Nicola on 0437195566.
On Thursday evening 20 September, Dominic College will again celebrate performing arts with the Music and Dance Showcase at the Don Bosco Centre at GYC. The P&F will be running the canteen, so if you are attending this evening, pop in for some refreshments before the evening starts.
Fair Update
Food stalls have been locked in for this year as has most of the entertainment. All the old favourites are returning as well as a few newbies. These include Hot Chips, Nachos, Snow Cones, Fairy Floss, Cake Stall, Cam’s Curries as well as Tornado potatoes, Doughnuts and Hot Roast rolls. We also have the Gee Whizzer, Jumping Castle, Animal Husbandry, Aldi Mini Roos, Fire truck, Fishcare as well as the DOSA Roosters, Taiko Drums and an Army Band.
We have many more stalls and entertainment in the pipeline so follow us on the Dominic Fair Page for more updates and details.
We are also looking for volunteers to help run a few of these stalls on the day, so if you think you can help out for just an hour or more on Friday 2 November, then please let us know via the Fair Facebook Page or by email on parentsandfriends@dominic.tas.edu.au
Our next P&F Meeting will be held on Wednesday 19 September and all parents are most welcome to come along.
