On Thursday evening, Year 9 students and their families participated in the annual Rite of Passage Ceremony, “The Departure”.
This is a process that involves expressing gratitude towards the people who have cared for you and looked after you in times of need.
Students were invited to write a letter to their parents or guardians about how thankful they are for the things they do for them.
Parents were encouraged to bring along items from their son or daughter’s childhood and to reminisce about the past and then let go and embrace the future of adulthood.
Expressing gratitude is an important part of life, showing people how much you appreciate their care and love is a way of thanking them. Young people often forget to show their gratitude for their friends and family so this activity was a crucial step on the journey to adulthood.
Year 9 students are congratulated on attending this Rite of Passage Ceremony to help them on their journey and to continue the Dominic College tradition.
