Our Robotics students across the school have growing opportunities to learn, make friends and compete in a variety of competitions. Last Saturday 30 July the following students competed in the Robocup Junior Finals at UTAS, Sandy Bay:
The JAGYM’s Dance Theatre Team (Peter Pan): Sarah Wright, Anit Saju, Jack Cassidy, Grace Goodman and Mitch Cleland
DC Poppins Dance Theatre Team (Mary Poppins): Ashley Cruse, Kate Young, Xavier Combs and Patrick Cornell
DC Marvels (Gen II League Soccer Team): James Lane MacDonald, Eli Morrison, Will Thompson and Jacob Morse.
Students performed very well and represented Dominic College with pride. One of the Dance Theatre teams was in the running for the Innovation Award and received a special mention for their wonderful team spirit. The organisers gave some great feedback about the good standard of the teams from Dominic College, especially considering it was their first big Robocup competition.
This was the very first competition for the Year 7 and 8 boys in our Gen II League Soccer Team and they were very competitive in the games. We were proud of their efforts and the way they conducted themselves throughout the day.
Students had great support from many of their parents along with teachers, Brad Parkin and Dora Swan. Thanks to Ms Gilligan for coming along as well, to support the students. It is great to have so much support for this exciting area of technology which engages students in learning skills they will be able to take with them into the future.
