This year, at lunchtime on Mondays, the Salesian Youth of Dominic College gather together. This group of Year 9 and 10 students formed four years ago as a community to celebrate the teachings and guidance of our founding Saint, John Bosco.
Our lunchtime meetings are divided into three parts, FAITH, COMMUNITY and MISSION. We start each gathering by exploring prayer and our FAITH, we ask each other; how am I living a Salesian life? We then celebrate our community, we play games and get to know each other. We share in the love and the laughter that Bosco held so dear. We close our meetings with an attitude of service; we explore our MISSION by extending the Salesian message and practice to our wider community.
Most recently our Mission is engagement and our members are devising a roster for lunchtime activities focused on bringing together our school community. Games, craft, food and fun have been planned to share with others.
As part of our personal faith and mission journey, nine members will be travelling to Safety Beach in May to attend OZBOSCO, an annual camp held for young Salesians from all over Australia.
This year’s travellers will be accompanied by our newly elected President Isabella Roberts and Vice President Sharni Stoward (pictured above) as well as Mrs Kim Tedford and Brother Barry. It is set to be a wonderful weekend.
A reminder that all Year 9 and 10 students are welcome to join our meetings on Monday. SYDC is a place of good friends and fun, come along and join in one of the many groups that make our school so great!
