Dear Students, Parents and Carers,
Students and families in Years 7-9 will begin the process of choosing electives for 2021 this term. Due to Covid-19 restrictions and guidelines regarding large gatherings, our elective selection process will be moved entirely online this year.
From 16-26 June, our SEQTA Engage and SEQTA Learn welcome pages will be formatted to provide students and families with pertinent information for making elective choices. Information on this platform will include links to videos, PowerPoint presentations and specific information designed to provide families with the information necessary to make a decision regarding electives for 2021. The subject handbook is available on the website for students and parents to access and will included detailed information about all electives offered in Year 8, 9 and 10 in 2021.
In Year 8, students study four electives, at least one from Technology and one from Creative Arts. The Year 7s will provide 4 elective preferences and 3 reserves when submitting their choices for their Year 8 electives.
In Years 9 and 10, students will study 3 electives each year. Students will submit 3 elective preferences with 3 reserve choices.
Dominic College uses the online platform of Web Preferences to enable students to submit their elective choices electronically. Web Preferences will open at 5.00pm on Tuesday 16 June and close at 5.00pm on Friday 26 June. Students will be emailed their user names and login details for Web Preferences on Monday 15 June.
In addition to our SEQTA information pages, each subject area will also be holding Microsoft Teams Meetings where families can join an information meeting to ask questions related to the electives in that faculty. Families will be able to join the meeting through Microsoft Teams on students’ laptops. Your child has been added to all Subject Area Microsoft Teams to facilitate this process. Simply join in the subject area meeting at the appointed time. Guilford Young College will also be available for a meeting if there are any questions related to future pathways. Please see the Microsoft Teams Subject Area Meeting schedule below.
We look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure students in Years 7-10 are supported through their academic pathway planning process. Please feel free to contact Janet Marcenko on jmarcenko@dominic.tas.edu.au with any questions or concerns.
Yours sincerely,
Janet Marcenko
Coordinator of Teaching and Learning 7-10
