Br Por, a Thai Salesian brother, is in theological training in Melbourne and has come to Dominic to have an experience of pastoral ministry immersion.
He attended the first K-6 assembly this week and has been very busy visiting classes from Kindergarten to Year 10. I had the chance to catch up with Br Por and ask him about his experience so far, of not only being at Dominic, but visiting Tasmania as well. Br Por commented that he loves Hobart as it is such a nice, easy city to get around and very friendly. It is very different from his homeland.
When asked about his time so far at Dominic College, Br Por replied he loved watching and learning from the staff and experiencing a different and innovative model of teaching. Br Por himself taught Religious Education in Thailand. During his time here, Br Por has also discovered a new interest in drama lessons. He found this an unexpected learning experience particularly as he even joined in with a lesson or two! This particular area of the curriculum is not taught in Thailand.
Overall, Br Por is delighted to be able to spend time at Dominic College and he wished to express his deep gratitude towards Ms Gilligan, the staff and students for making him feel very welcome and involving him in all we do
