Work & Training, Tasmania’s largest private provider of nationally-recognised training and assessment, held their graduation and awards ceremony on Friday 23 November and Dominic College old scholars were prominent.
Shania Kava (2014, Glenorchy City Dental, Cert 111 in Dental Aassisting), Daniel Revell (2012, TasTAFE, Cert 11 in Business), Tyler O’Neill (2013, Dominic College, Cert 111 in Sport & Rec) and Montana Cate (2014, Cert THS-RHS, Cert 111 in Business) were all finalists in the MAS National Trainee of the Year Award.
Shania Kava was named the Trainee of the Year so it was great to see an old scholar take out this award at this prestigious event for trainees from across the state of Tasmania.
Congratulations to Tyler O’Neill, our own Sport & Recreation Trainee, who works with our Outdoor Education teachers to support our Adventure Recreation program. She also assists in HPE classes across the school and with organising and running sporting events.
Mr Cameron Golding, Director of HPE K-10 and I were very proud to attend the Graduation and Awards night to support Tyler. Tyler has enrolled to undertake a Masters of Teaching at UTAS in 2019.
Tyler is hoping to be accepted into Early Childhood teaching or HPE teaching. Both are fantastic options and it is great to see how Tyler has used her Traineeship at Dominic College as a stepping stone her future pathway to higher education. We wish her all the best for her future and I am sure she will be back often volunteering at Dominic College.
Mrs Selina Kinne - Director of Teaching & Learning K-10
