On Tuesday 20 September, Year 9 students exercised leadership in their participation in the College Year 5 Taster Day.
Four schools were invited to participate in activities to showcase Dominic’s broad range of subjects. These schools were St Paul’s, St Therese’s, St Brigid’s, and our Dominic College Year 5 classes.
Students were given a taste of some of our subjects, including Athletic Development, Design in Wood, EMPOWER, Drama, and Science.
In Athletic Development, they learnt how to box, and tested out their agility skills.
In Design in Wood, Mr Mangione showed off the amazing Design Centre and they made personalised key hooks.
In EMPOWER, they learnt about what it means to be truly happy, and Mr Pritchard answered their burning questions about high school.
Drama was a workshop on physicality, lead by Mrs Healy in the Little Theatre.
Last but not least, in Science, they were put through a series of activities, mainly based around our Physical Science elective.
Thanks to Ms Mallay and the Science students for running this amazing activity.
All of the students seemed to love their time here at Dominic College, and everyone got involved in our ‘Taster Day Cup,’ even the Year 9s! Congratulations to St Therese’s who won the very first Taster Day Cup.
On behalf of the year 9 cohort, I would like to thank the students from the various schools that participated. Every one was so co-operative, and it was a great opportunity for future Dominic College students to make friends. Thank you to all of the teachers, students and staff who made the day possible.
