Year 10 Marine Studies camp 2019

This week, 15 Year 10 Animal Husbandry students along with Mrs Jessica Palermo and I, spent four days at the Woodbridge Marine Discovery Centre on our Dominic College Marine Camp. Students learned about marine biology and obtained their boat licenses. The Centre is located right on the water on the D’Entrecastreaux Channel and is an interactive real life hands on learning centre for all ages from pre-Kinder to University level studies.

Taiko Workshop magic

Twenty-four students of Japanese accepted the invitation to participate in a workshop with two professional taiko drummers visiting Tasmania from Japan Makoto Sekine and Morimitsu​ Not only did the students have the opportunity to experience playing an authentic Japanese instrument, but they also learned about taiko playing technique, discipline and manners.

Year 7 Camp March 2019

​On Monday 18 March, Bosco and Guzman Houses headed down to Fortescue Bay for our Year 7 camp. We were looking forward to some amazing experiences such as a four-hour hike, surfing, rafting, studying the tessellated pavement evironment, aboriginal activities and orienteering.

Catholic Education Week 2019

This Sunday, 19 March, marks the commencement of Catholic Education Week in Tasmania. Next week is designated as a time to celebrate the achievements of Catholic schools. In particular for us, it is a time to honour the great educational legacy provided to us by the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Dominican Sisters who together, had the vision to establish Dominic College as the first coeducational Catholic secondary school in southern Tasmania in 1973.

Bullying No Way!

At our Year 7-10 Assembly on Wednesday, I was very proud of our Guzman Sports Captain Alyssa Mustchin who stood up and reminded students about what bullying is and the impacts of this on the victims of bullying.

Open Day 12 March 2019

We hosted 35 families at our successful recent Open Day, on Tuesday 12 March. They enjoyed special tours conducted by teachers and student leaders, learning more about the excellent variety of learning opportunities at Dominic College.
