Catholic Education Week 2019 celebrated at Glenorchy

Last Sunday saw the beginning of Catholic Education Week. This is a special time when we acknowledge how unique and special our Catholic schools are.

Catholic Education Week 2019

This Sunday, 19 March, marks the commencement of Catholic Education Week in Tasmania. Next week is designated as a time to celebrate the achievements of Catholic schools. In particular for us, it is a time to honour the great educational legacy provided to us by the Salesians of Don Bosco and the Dominican Sisters who together, had the vision to establish Dominic College as the first coeducational Catholic secondary school in southern Tasmania in 1973.

Open Day 12 March 2019

We hosted 35 families at our successful recent Open Day, on Tuesday 12 March. They enjoyed special tours conducted by teachers and student leaders, learning more about the excellent variety of learning opportunities at Dominic College.

Balance for Better lecture at UTAS

Being the week of International Women’s Day, last Thursday, I was very pleased to attend the UTAS #BalanceForBetter Lecture: “Why is gender equality so hard to achieve?” where former State Premier, Lara Giddings, was the guest speaker.

International Women's Day breakfast 2019

Thank you to the members of the Dominic College community who joined together for our International Women’s Day Breakfast on Tuesday morning. It was a brilliant gathering with 250 people in attendance and a great atmosphere of celebration and solidarity with women and girls across the globe.

P&F News - first meeting 2019

Our first meeting of 2019 was held on Wednesday 27 February and we had an amazing turnout of P&F members and staff. Dylan Chivers, Dominic College Chief Financial and Operations Manager, came along and did an in depth presentation on the capital development of the K-2 area that will begin later this year.

Marching Band workshop

Last weekend, 2-3 March, the Derwent Valley Concert Band held a Marching Band Workshop weekend at Dominic College, outside on our sports fields and inside the Savio Centre.

Parents & Friends morning tea

On Wednesday, 6 March 9.15am-10.20am, our Principal and Parents & Friends’ ‘Meet and Greet’ will be held in the College Library. This is an opportunity for parents, relatively new to the school or who are well established, to catch up with the Principal and to meet members of the P&F.

International Women's Day breakfast 5 March 2019

International Women's Day is celebrated all around the world in March and is an opportunity to commemorate the achievements of girls and women, locally and globally.

Time to enrol - for Kindergarten 2020 and Year 7 2021

If you have a child to commence Kindergarten in 2020 or Year 7 in 2021 it is now time to enrol. It is important that you complete an Enrolment Application form and submit to the College as soon as possible.
