Dominic College Science Fair 2018

On Wednesday 15 August 1.45pm – 6.30pm, in conjunction with National Science Week, we will be holding the inaugural Dominic College Science Fair. College students from Kindergarten to Year 10 will be showcasing their learning through displays, demonstrations and interactive experiences. This opportunity has allowed students to present, create, make or research in an area or passion of their choice.

Year 4 Japanese Day

On Thursday we welcomed students from Westerway, New Norfolk, Austins Ferry and Windermere Primary Schools to our first ever Japanese Cultural Experience Day. Students form these schools joined our own Year 4 students and staff at Dominic College for a day devoted to Japanese language and culture.

Dominican Feast Day 2018

On Wednesday our students and staff celebrated the Dominic Feast Day commemorating our Dominican patron saints St Catherine of Siena and St Dominic Guzman. The College was bustling with activities starting with buddy activities in K-6 and the Amazing Race in 7-10. We then all gathered in the Savio to celebrate Mass as a community, followed by a delicious lunch comprising of freshly made salad rolls and a lolly pop.

VET at Dominic College

Dominic College is a proud member of the Southern Tasmania Catholic Colleges Trade Training Centre (STCCTTC) consortium. VET has been a part of the Year 7-10 curriculum for over eight years and each year the results are very satisfying.

Leadership Awards to Dominic College staff

Congratulations to our Coordinator of 7-10 English, Mrs Jan Marcenko who will receive a 2018 Australian Council for Educational Leadership Tasmania (ACEL TAS) Award for Excellence in Educational Leadership. Further congratulations to our Coordinator of 7-10 Humanities, Mr Ben Fulton who will receive an ACEL TAS Early Career Teacher Leadership Award.

Year 10 Marine Camp

On Tuesday 26 June Year 10 students from the Animal Husbandry & Marine Science elective went on a comprehensive four-day camp program week incorporating marine and foreshore ecology, physical oceanography and climate modelling held at the Woodbridge Marine Discovery Centre, Woodbridge.

Technology in Year 3

As part of Year 3 Curriculum, students have been engaged with using Reading Eggs for Literacy Skills, Mathletics and Prodigy for Numeracy Skills and have also now become more accustomed to using Word, Powerpoint and photography to share their understanding.

Bell Shakespeare Company's 'The Players'

​On Tuesday 26 June, Dominic College was delighted to welcome “The Players” from Bell Shakespeare to help launch our upcoming Shakespeare units in Years 9 and 10. The Year 9 cohort watched “Shakespeare Is Dead” which took them on a funny, enlightening and fast-paced journey through the world of William Shakespeare.
